Hello and welcome to The Rimmer Family History Society's web site.
I'm Lesley, the webmaster of this site. I update it when I receive information from the Committee Members or anybody else who wishes to contribute something, unfortunately this is not very often. I am not Family History orientated so I have to depend upon second - hand information, if you can help me out by adding more information please contact me.
We welcome anybody to come and have a look around especially if you are looking for Rimmer information. I hope you find some useful information or at least if you follow a link from the site you find what it is that you are looking for - Good Luck and feel free to call back just in case I suddenly find out what it's all about!!
Botanic Gardens Bandstand (Southport)
The Botanic Gardens Action Group together with the Brass Band Association are trying to get a proper bandstand in the Gardens. There has been support from Sefton Parks Officers and also from the Conservation Officer who thinks that English Heritage may agree to the proposals.
The proposal is to build a new mound with a bandstand on top (similar to the present structure but nearer to the 'band shed'); the cost is exepcted to be in the range of £60,000!
It has been suggested that the new Bandstand be named after William Rimmer, Composer and Bandmaster. As this year will be commemorating 50th Anniversary of the Sunday Brass Band Concerts there will be fundraising at the various band events and then the Action Group will apply for match funding.
We, The Rimmer FHS, have been asked if we would support this venture and assist with fundraising? Our Chairman feels that this would be an excellent project to be involved in - what do you think? Let us know?
