THE RIMMER REUNION 2006
As predicted, the Rimmer Reunion held on the Sunday 22nd October was a roaring success, some of the roaring being provided by our guest speaker, Leofeyrth the Viking, as he demonstrated the weapons used by his people as they fought to establish settlements.
Many Rimmers believe that they, and their name, originated from the Norse/Swedish/Danish people and the Society is working to prove the theory. Leofeyrth also had a wide collection of articles to show what was worn and used at the time. Much interest was shown by his audience.
He is, of course, Kevin Taylor from Scarisbrick in real life who has been studying Viking culture for many years and was happy to chat to people and answer questions during the whole afternoon. Around 80 to 90 people attend the Reunion during the afternoon and much Rimmerising went on in this 'Room Full Of Rimmers'.
Success of Rimmer Family Reunion 2007
RIMMERS across Southport celebrated another successful annual reunion on Sunday October 14th 2007, which saw four people finding family matches.
After perusing the information and family trees on show at the event, two of the people in question found that they were related to the famous composer, William Rimmer.
The bandsman was also the topic of a talk given by Cllr Brian Mayson Rimmer.
One man travelled to Southport from Bristol, determined to trace his great grandfather, which he did.
Gladys Rimmer Armstrong, chairman of the Rimmer Family History Society, said: “All in all it was superb. We had four people who found family matches, and Brian Rimmer’s talk was very entertaining and informative. It is amazing how many people come and find family. We’ve already booked for next year – watch this space!”

The Cemetery
Finding that you have correctly traced an ancestor's certificate or census entry is very satisfying, but nothing can compare with finally standing beside the grave of a long lost relative knowing that you stand within feet of the actual persons remains.
